Behind the Music part 3

Femalehiphopnow

“Music Producers You Should Know”

Part 3

What it do y’all we’re back at again with another edition of Femalehiphopnow, and this time we will focus on the production side of the music and culture. Before you had the music producer in the early stages of hip hop, you had the DJ who would get creative with the sound and mix and master beats so the B-boy and B-girl to dance or rap too. Almost fifty years later, hip hop culture has changed where the Dj is also the producer. In the age of the internet, beat-making and producing have been at an all-time high. Different ways for producers to share and sell their beats and with a new artist blowing up and going viral every day. Anyone can be the next super producer with the direction the industry is going. Many producers have risen to legendary status over the past four to five years because of the internet connection. This edition of the article will highlight a few upcoming producers you need to know in the hip-hop industry. Now let’s get into it.

Finally, we have a producer name Monique Winning from San Antonio, Texas. When people think of Texas, they think of screwed and chopped or Slowed music. Jigging or the Dallas boogie music, but we don’t hear music or anything cultural about San Antonio, Texas. If you agree with this, you don’t, and then you don’t listen to Texas music. San Antonio and West Texas have many artists that have hit the underground scene. Artists like Blake, Mateo Sun, and Kshiday have hit the hip-hop scene from San Antonio, Texas. West Texas also dripped in Texas Culture and Hip Hop Culture and Talent. Now let’s get into the Talented producer Monique Winning whose also putting on for West Texas and San Antonio

Femalehiphopnow: As I sat down with Monique Winning and wanted to know,  What was it like growing up? In your hometown?

Monique Winning: Growing up in San Antonio was decent, but I always felt out of place because I wanted to live in Houston.

Femalehiphopnow: Wow, that’s crazy. Hopefully, you can make that move to Houston. With you wanting to be in Houston, what are some musical influences?

Monique Winning: Living in the state of Texas influenced me musically. I grew up listening to artists like Z-Ro, Traethetruth, Slim Thug, Big Moe, and UGK. So I’ve always been in love with the Texas rap culture.

Femalehiphopnow: What’s crazy thing is I hear many women from Texas say UGK and the Houston rap culture influence them. I see why you always wanted to be in Houston, Now knowing your influences. Leads me to ask, what is your creative process?

Monique Winning:  I don’t know if I have a creative process, honestly. I just do whatever I feel like doing at the time. Some days I feel like being versatile and working on different styles. Some days I just work on one style.

Femalehiphopnow: Okay, that’s dope. I like how you just go with the flow. My next question is, what are some of your inspirations (Daily)?

Monique Winning: I’m not 100% inspired by producers, as crazy as it sounds. Two artists primarily inspire me; Nicki Minaj and Aaliyah.

Femalehiphopnow: Wow, that’s dope. Those are some heavy-hitting inspirations. Both these artists have era-changing sounds too. This leads me to ask, What is the best beat/track you’ve produced? And What is the most successful beat you’ve produced to date?

MoniqudoesWinning: I try not to rank my beats because every time I favor one, people don’t like it.  Best song I produced: Saucy Santana – Giving Me

The most successful beat I produced is this Lil Baby type beat on my store titled “We Up.” It’s made me the most money so far, and it’s one of my favorites, surprisingly.

Femalehiphopnow: You did your thing with that with the Saucy Santana song like that beat it is fire. That Lil baby beat goes crazy too, you’re super talented. This question might get a little controversial, but What the differences between a producer and beatmakers?

Monique Winning:  I try not to compare the terms “beatmaker” and “producer.” I don’t believe there is a difference, and I honestly don’t try to look for one. We all make beats.

Femalehiphopnow: That’s a good outlook on that. I like how you made it positive on the topic. Now that your experience in the Hip Hop industry’s producer side, what advice would you give a young upcoming producer?

Monique Winning: Don’t set expectations. Stay humble. Always believe in yourself. Do your research. Try to stay away from locking yourself into a contract for as long as you can. Be free!

“Music Producers You Should Know”

Part 2

First Up Is a producer name Pyro Lucain from Albany, New York. Many people don’t know that upstate New York has a rich history in hip hop. For years people only associated hip hop with New York City and the boroughs, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Harlem, and Staten Island. At the same time, these are the places where hip hop got its origins. The sound did spread to upstate New York cities like Albany, Syracuse, and Buffalo. Buffalo is where the group/record company Griselda Records ( Buffalo Kids). You may have heard of them, But Upstate New York is not a place to sleep on, and the producers in Up State are just as talented as the Artists. Today we are Highlighting Pyro Lucain.

Femalehiphopnow: When I sat down with Pyro Lucain I wanted to know where he is from and what it was like living there?

Pyro Lucain: Originally, I’m from Albany, New York, but I’m currently residing in New Haven, Connecticut and Growing up in Albany was great because It was a lot of culture in the city, things to do for the kids, a lot of entertainment flowing through as well, so I got to see a lot of great things happen while I was in Albany.

Femalehiphopnow: Wow, when people think of culture, people don’t think of Upstate New York. That’s good to know. Now with you seeing the culture around you, did your city/state influence you musically?

Pyro Lucain: I feel like Albany/New Haven played a big part musically from my standpoint from a different environment and adapting what was going on in Connecticut. Hence, it gave me the edge I feel.

Femalehiphopnow: That’s crazy that you say Connecticut when it comes to influence and culture. Many: the people wouldn’t know Connecticut has that type of crowd out there. This lead me to ask him, What is your creative process when it comes to making beats?

Pyro Lucain: When it comes to my creative process, I sit and listen to samples to spark an idea, or I go through loops from my close producer friends. I get the drums going and just go from there.

Femalehiphopnow: So you actually listen to other composers and samples so you can become inspired to make something new. That’s dope. Thinking about this, I had to ask him, What are some of your inspirations (Daily)?

Pyro Lucain: My daily inspirations come from me living day-to-day living. Of course, it goes deeper but to keep it basic lol it’s every day mainly living.

Femalehiphopnow: Yes, I understand that ultimately it is indeed a blessing to make it day by day. My next question for you will be, What is the best beat/track you’ve produced?

Pyro Lucain: To me personally, my best stuff is my unreleased stuff, but if I had to choose, I would say “Get Ahead” by Gqtheprince off his “Authentic” Ep goes crazy to me. Go check that out but the way.

Femalehiphopnow: oh yea, I heard both bodies of work. You went crazy on those for sure. This question might be a little challenging, but what is the most successful beat you’ve produced to date?

Pyro Lucain: The most successful beat I produced to date would have to the “Child Of The Ghetto” By Dave East.

Femalehiphopnow: Honestly, “Child of the Ghetto” is one of my favorite Dave East songs. You did your thang with that one. This question might get a little controversial. What are the differences between a producer and a beatmaker?

Pyro Lucain: The difference between a beatmaker and a producer is that a beatmaker sits and just makes Beats and sends them out, and there’s nothing wrong with that at all. I got a lot of my placements and made my early connections like that. As far as a producer? he or she is involved with the engineering aspect or takes an idea and makes an entire song out of it, just to be brief. They both go hand and hand. To be honest, there are days where I’m a beatmaker, and there are days where I’m a producer. I’m still both at the end of the day.

Femalehiphopnow: That’s a dope outlook on the art form of producing music. Now you have experience in the music-making industry, what is advice would you give to upcoming music producers?

Pyro Lucain: The best advice I can give to upcoming producers is to make sure you learn the business as much as you make beats, build connections on all levels, attach yourself to an artist that you believe in and create a sound, be a student of the game, always work and have your style.

“Music Producers You Should Know”

Part 1

Many producers have risen to legendary status over the past four to five years because of the connection of the internet. In this edition of the article, we will highlight a few upcoming producers you need to know in the hip-hop industry. Now let’s get into it.

First up, we have Dailyonthistrack.

DailyOnThisTrack is an upcoming producer from East Waco, Texas. DailyOnThisTrack has been in the game for a little over ten years. He is producing for some of the central Texas most prominent artists. He has also worked alongside Mo3 and Black Youngsta. Recently I got a chance to sit down with Dailyonthistack and ask him about his journey on the production side of hip hop.

Femalehiphopnow: With Dailyonthistrack coming from a small town, I wondered what it was like for him growing up?

Dailyonthistrack: It was straight. It wasn’t all bad, but it wasn’t all good either, though. We live in a hateful / crab in a bucket city. Don’t too many people wanna see you do go or better than them.”

Femalehiphopnow: Knowing that could be tough to push through when you grow up in a city with that attitude. I asked him what were some of the inspirations when producing music or just throughout his daily life?

Dailyonthistrack: “My daughter. My family. Putting them in a better position helps me keep going and not give up. Knowing that it only takes one song to change everything.”

Femalehiphopnow: Loving how his family was his motivation to keep him going. I started to wonder when did he first fall in love with music/hip-hop?

Dailyonthetrack: “Since a kid, I always loved music. My favorite rapper was Lil Wayne during the Hot Boys era. He made me want to make music.”

Femalehiphopnow: Noticing that Lil Wayne and the Hot boys made a mark on DailyOnThisTrack musically. I wanted to know what are some of his other musical influences?

Dailyonthistrack: “Not much from the city, But Texas music as a whole did influence me.”

Femalehiphopnow: After finding out some of the influences, I wanted to know his creative process?

Dailyonthistrack: “If I’m just randomly making beats, I just go off how I’m feeling at the time. That’s the type of beat I’ll make. It is all about the vibe for me.”

Femalehiphopnow: The vibe is essential when making music. Now shifting over to your success in your music-producing career, What is the most successful beat you’ve produced to date?

Dailyonthistrack:I would say TOG Minor – The Spot ft. HotBoy Wes. Because when he perform it around the city, they always go crazy. But far as numbers-wise, I really don’t know.”

Femalehiphopnow: Oh yea, that song had the streets going crazy!!! So what is the best track or Instrumental have you ever produced?

Dailyonthistrack: “I really can’t say. I feel like my best shit hasn’t been rapped or sung on yet. I have a Vault folder of beats that I feel would be instant hits if I get the right artist on it.”

Femalehiphonow: That’s crazy, so you have beats for days. Knowing that he has all these beats made me wonder, What are the differences between a producer and beatmakers?

Dailyonthetrack: “A beatmaker is just a beatmaker. A producer is someone who knows how to build a song from scratch. From the beat to engineering to song arrangement.”

Femalehiphopnow: Thank you for clarifying the difference because a lot of people don’t know.  Seeing that you’re successful so far, what advice would you give to upcoming music producers?

Dailyonthistrack: “Perfect your craft. Don’t let artists try to run over you and try to use you cause; trust me, it will happen. If you got the talent, don’t lowball yourself. Know your worth.”

Here are some tracks and beats that Dailyonthistrack has produced over the past few years. If you like the beat, buy the beat and give credit to the producer.

King Mizzie

“Whats The Cost”

King Mizzie is a new artist that caught my attention while on the app Clubhouse.King Mizzie is from Miami, Fl but was raised in Columbus, Ga. After finding him, I decided to dig deep into his music, and I instantly fell in love with his sound. His music reminded me of a mix of Gunna and Don Toliver. King Mizzie’s music has a futuristic and melodic sound. King Mizzie started rapping at age nine by writing his first song, In 2017 King Mizzie started taking music more seriously. King Mizzie’s project “Whats The Cost” is a whole vibe. In October 2020, King Mizzie dropped the project “What’s the Cost,” and it’s straight fire. Some of my favorite songs from the project are “Scold Me,” “Easy Love,” and “Die Regular.” In the song “Die Regular,” King Mizzie tells us a story of his come up in the music industry. My favorite song on the album is “Scold Me” When i got a chance to asked him, “What inspired the song scold me?” His response was “Scold me was really inspired by this dime I use to talk to where she acted like she was really there for my time, the whole time it was all a game she ended up having a child exactly 9months after we stopped talking. But I always say when I do become the superstar I’m meant to be all the money and fame will never change me. It’s gonna be me and the same ppl I was with when she knew me.” Also, I wanted to know what was King Mizzie’s creative process when making this uniquely amazing body of work? His response was “I really wanted to try something different with my sound and just keep on pouring my souls into the mic 2020 was a pretty rough year for a lot of us but still gotta make sure while we are able we are finding ways to get up higher in life I don’t want to be in the same position I’m in now when I’m 30 so we will keep taking risk to win.”Overall, “Whats the Cost” by King Mizzie is a fantastic body of work and is definitely worth the stream. “Whats the Cost” is out now on all streaming platforms. King Mizzie will also be dropping a project at the top of the year 2021 there is no name for the project yet, but stay on the lookout for that.

“Who got Next”

“Who got Next” Female Edition

FemaleHiphopNow

What it do y’all? We are back with another edition of Female hip hop now, and this time we are bringing 2020 to an end. This year has been fantastic for Women in the music industry. The women of hip hop carried the genre from some of our favorites like Megan The Stallion, and the City Girls, who took over the billboard this year. Also, Doja cat had a good year being the most versatile female artist in 2020. We had artists like Mullatto and Flo Milli, who both had a huge breakout year with both of them dropping great projects that caught mainstream attention and had Twitter talking for weeks. Now let’s focus on the girls up next for the 2021 year, seeing that female presence in hip hop isn’t going anywhere for a long time. We can celebrate these rap girls who are just starting and to gain some mainstream buzz. Artists like Pap Chanel, Ceefineass, Big Jade, and Yvette. These four girls got next, in the hip hop industry for the year 2021.

Pap Chanel

Many of yall heard of Pap Chanel from her First day out freestyle that went viral in 2017. Well, Pap Chanel has been on the grind dropping music and videos, taking full advantage of her opportunity. Pap Chanel caught my attention by her name, which “Pap” is the abbreviated form of the phrase “Pretty and Paid.” Over the last two years, I kept up and watched Pap Chanel music and visuals develop. With every new single, Pap Chanel gets better and better. Some of her past single I liked is “I’ll be good,” “Self made,” and “No chill.” In the year 2020, Pap Chanel dropped a project titled “Pretty and Paid.” This project was excellent and super underrated, in my opinion. For one, she only has one major artist featured (Black Youngsta) on this album. This is a perfect choice because it allows the fans and new listeners to focus on her talent. The project jams from start to finish with standout tracks “Nobody,” “2-way street,” and “Perfect.” One of my personal favorites from the project is “Country Girl” because I’m a country girl in a big city. I can, for sure, relate to that song. Even with her dropping a project in the middle of the pandemic, she still applied pressure and stayed consistent for her fans and dropped another single titled “Gucci Bucket hat” ft Future. Pap Chanel is an artist/rapper to look out for in the year 2021.

https://music.apple.com/us/album/pretty-paid/1528802557

Yvette

Yvette is another rapper that has next for the year 2021. Yvette is from St. Louis, Missouri, just like other Midwest hip-hop legends that came before her, and she is putting on for her city in a significant way. I ran across Yvette’s music on youtube. The song that caught my attention was titled the “Ratchet twerk song” everything about this song screamed cut up with your homegirls and we outside vibes. What I loved about her was her confidence and fun energy in the video. The song was just a reminder that you should feel like the baddest b*tch alive no matter what. Over the past two years, I continued to look and listen to Yvette’s other released music. I ran across songs titled “Bad Bitch” “Da baby freestyle,” “Problems” ‘Up,” “Dog ass,” and “Big Yvette.” These songs are fire and give off the vibe of ratchet but still the baddest in the building vibes. This past summer of 2020, even amid the pandemic, Yvette has always managed to give us some new music and videos for a single “Outside” that tells a creative story of the party girl who can’t be cuffed because she loves to have fun. She has also dropped two more singles on SoundCloud titled “Talk that sh*t freestyle” and “Sex talk freestyle” Even though Yvette hasn’t dropped an official project yet, she still is a female artist/rapper you should look out for in 2021.

CeeFineAss

Another artist on the lookout for 2021 is Ceefineass from New Orleans, Louisiana. New Orleans is the home of many southern hip-hop legends like Master P, Lil Wayne, and Mia X.  Ceefineass follows the greats’ footsteps before her. I first ran across Ceefineass music on youtube while listening to bounce music. Her song titled “Mad” popped up, and I like the song and have been hooked ever since. The more I started listening, the more I like her music and the energy in her videos. CeeFineass music and her videos remind me of summertime and New Orleans culture. CeefineAss makes music for people who just want to have a good time. Over the past few years, Ceefineass has dropped numerous songs on youtube and SoundCloud. Some of her highlighted singles are “Boss B*tch,” “Pay Back,” and “Mirror Mirror.” So far, CeefineAss has also found a way to keep the New Orleans traditional bounce sound but still adapt to classic southern hip hop style beats. Her versatility is one reason why she is the hottest female artist in her city. Also, in 2020 CeefineAss dropped more singles “Cocky” featuring Pooh Shiesty. “Creeping part 1 and 2,” and “Gossip.” CeefineAss dropped a project titled “Welcome to my city” in 2021. The tape has features from Memphis heavy-hitting artists Money bagg yo and Pooh shiesty. The album is so New Orleans and a great way to end the 2021 year. Be sure y’all stay on the lookout for CeefineAss in 2021.

Big Jade

Big Jade is from Port Arthur, Texas. Many of y’all know about Port Arthur, Texas, from hip hop legendary group UGK made up of two rappers Bun B and Pimp c (R.I.P). Well, Big Jade is following the path these two paved to mainstream recognition. I first saw Big Jade on youtube in an interview and instantly like her stand up personality. I decided to check out her music and loved what I heard. Big jade has been in the rap game for about four years. Big Jade faced a minor setback in 2019, but the little set back was matched by a major come up. In the year 2020, Big Jade came into the female hip hop game swinging and showing hip hop fans that she can rock with anyone. After watching her interviews, I decided to look into Big Jade’s music, and I loved what I heard. The first song and visual I listened to was titled “F*CK Niggas,” and I loved the rawest of her voice and the fierceness of her lyrics. I instantly added her to my “female rappers to look for” playlist on youtube. Over the past few years, Big Jade has dropped the right amount of singles and music videos. The one video that caught the world’s attention was her remix to Shawnna’s song “RPM.” Big Jade flow and visual was like a breath of fresh air to the rap game. What I loved most about the video was to see her doing a client’s hair while rapping. This showed the world that Big Jade wasn’t just a rapper and had many talents and hustles. In the year 2019, Big Jade dropped a project titled “Free Big Jade.” The project was 10/10 with hits like “Big Smoke,” “Period Pooh,” “Let me see it,” and “Turning me on.” These just some of the fan favorites on the project. My favorite song on the project is “F his mama.” In the year 2020, Big Jade also dropped some solid singles titled “Respectfully” and “First day out,” along with other freestyles showing off her rapping skills. The year 2021 will be a break out year for Big Jade giving female hip hop fans a new artist to support. Y’all be sure to stay on the lookout for Big Jade.

“Best female rap diss songs.”

I’m back Y’all with another edition of female hip hop now. Before we get started, #BreonnaTaylor baby girl we love, and you are resting with your ancestors. The system failed you, but your people love you. I hope you had a safe transition. Black men keep pushing. We love you, and we know that you are trying to protect black women despite what they told us. You are enough. Also, make sure ya’ll go VOTE on November 3rd and be the change you want to be.

For the last few months, we have been getting excellent music from female hip-hop artists, but now this week, I want to focus on some of the best diss songs ever dropped by a female rapper. Many people don’t think the female rappers could just rap rap but understand that this rap game has room for females, and there is always a female rapper that feels like she can out rap another person just like in sports. Because essentially, hip-hop is another form of a sport, so in this category today, I’m going to show you the top five best female rap diss songs I’ve heard so far. Disclaimer, this is just a list of the songs that I like from female rappers. This is not to be disrespectful to the female rapper who made the songs or the female/Male rapper that is getting rapped about in the music. This is just for entertainment purposes only. Now let’s get into it.

Number 5

Mz. E (Mz. G) Diss by Erica Banks.

This is the first diss track from the newcomer Erica banks. The story behind the track is close to a rivalry on who’s the “Hardest” among her and another Dallas, Texas female rapper Mz. G. Both artists exchanged comments on a blog site, and things started to get ugly. The first artist Mz. G dropped the first diss song titled “Stupid h*e,” and the song called Erica Bank out for not being the hardest in Dallas and for being so called from the “Suburbs” even though she is from Dallas, Texas. Erica responded with the diss titled “Mz. E(Mz.G) diss.” This was a hard-core answer back to Mz. G this diss insulted Mz G to the highest of disrespect that I’ve ever heard from a female artist. The vast line that caught everybody’s attention in the song was this “I put that little p*ssy in your granddaddy’s face.” This shocked everyone and called for everyone’s attention, making it seem that Erica Banks can handle any person at any time without folding. Overall the “Mz.E (Mz.G).” diss response to Mz.G deserves the number 5 spot in the top 5 female rappers diss songs.

Number 4.

On your head by Dream Doll

Many of you all met dream doll on the tv show bad girls club. Since that TV show, Dream doll has made an excellent career for her as a female rapper. Hailing from New York City, she follows the footsteps of many great New York rappers before her. In January of 2019, Dream Doll showed the world that she could fight with the big dogs in this rap game. Dream doll’s name was mentioned in a rap beef between Tory Lanez and Don Q. When Tory lanez lamely said her name, she was pissed and knew she had responded, and she did exactly that. Dream doll dropped a diss song titled “On ya head” this was a perfectly crafted diss song to respond to a person who had no business dropping your name. The most legendary line from the song was “had him trying to suck my toes through my socks” this line sent a crushing blow to her opponent and let the rap game know the dream doll ain’t nobody to play with. Overall, dream doll “On ya head” deserves the number four spots on the list.

Number 3

Name calling Part 2 by Queen Latifah.

Some of yall aren’t familiar with the O.G’s of female hip hop having feuds. Well, they have in the 90s Queen Latifah and Foxy Brown went head to head over some unpleasing rumors. The tale goes that Queen Latifah tried to hit up in a flirtatious way Foxy Brown. Queen Latifah heard the rumors and did not like allegations, so she took to the booth and dropped “Name callin’” part one. Foxy Brown responded with “10% diss” that let Queen Latifah know she wasn’t backing down. Queen Latifah took the hint and answered back with the most disrespectful diss I’ve heard out of a female rapper from her era. The diss “Name Callin part 2” basically gave Queen Latifah the win in the feud and also let people know she was still lyrical that assassin that she entered the game as before.

Number 2

Vindictive by Rocky B

Rocky B is a female rapper from Detroit, Michigan, who had something to say in 2017. That year Rocky B dropped one of the hardest diss songs I’ve ever witnessed titled “Vindictive” this song is rumored to be about another Detroit female rapper that goes by the name Molly brazy. This song is targeted to end a rivalry between the two. Many people were introduced to Rocky B by this song and a hell of an introduction it was.  Two of my favorite things about this song are the Quiet storm sample that gave the song a sense of sinister and fear like a storm was coming. The second thing that stands out to me about this song is this line “you don’t have enough muscle for that Draco not to kick back.” This line was so iconic that the molly brazy got a Draco tatted on her arm to prove a point. Making rocky b diss song iconic, This diss song deserves number 2 on the top five female rappers diss songs.

Number 1

Shether by Remy ma

This song was the hardest this song I ever heard from a female rapper PERIOD. The Diss was directed towards Nicki Minaj and the rivalry between the two New York City artists. In the early years of their rapping careers, these ladies were both on fire and heating up the female hip hop scene. These two were rumored to be throwing shots at each other in the years of 2015 and 2016. Remy Ma’s initial first shot was thrown in 2016 in the BET Hip Hop Awards cypher. While many people didn’t think of the line as a target towards Nicki, the internet went crazy and ran with the bars and instigated the already bubbling rivalry. Nicki Minaj doesn’t respond until 2017 in the songs “Swalla” and “Make Love” these lines were clearly directed to Remy Ma. Shortly after those two songs, Remy came out the gate with “shether” in 2017. This diss song was so hard that it stopped the world and broke the internet. It was also shocking to see a female rapper beef blow to that magnitude. Overall this diss was the hardest female diss song I’ve ever heard, and it deserves the number one spot on the best female hip hop diss songs.

Female Hip Hop Now

New Orleans Edition

What it do yall I’m back with another edition of female hip hop now. Before we get into it, I just want to address a few things. First, Black Lives Matter, second your mental health matters, so take a self-care day or go to therapy or do something to take care of you during this pandemic. Third black women keep grinding, keep winning, and loving you for who you are. Now let’s get into this week’s heat. Lately, the female rappers have been giving us quality music all 2020, even with the pandemic messing up are “hot girl,” “city girl,” we are “outside” summer. The ladies are still giving us a playlist to play inside and be safe and still lit. This week I’m focusing on the ladies of New Orleans, the only city down south that does not sleep and parties 24/7. In this edition, we are celebrating the culture of New Orleans and the women who run the rap game. Ladies like Ceefineass, Game ova reedy, and Treety. These ladies have been putting in work for the culture of New Orleans by using a style called bounce, which appeared in New Orleans in the early ’90s. This style reached the mainstream audience in 2018, but the buzz died down to people that were not local to Louisana sound. Well, in 2020, the bounce sound and the Louisiana tradition still is going strong, and I am here to put yall on to some females who are keeping bounce music alive and on the brink of taking it mainstream.

Number one

Ceefineass

Ceefineass is new to the New Orleans rap scene, but she has a strong buzz in the game and predicted to be the new face that puts New Orleans bounce on the mainstream stage. I was on youtube checking out bounce music from some classic bounce artist and ran across Ceefineass. I don’t know exactly when she started rapping, but I know that this girl is super talented. What caught my attention about Ceefineass is her ability to spit bars and stay consistent on traditional New Orleans bounce beats. Her ability to rap over classic southern rhythms allows her to gain fans outside of the bounce sound. What I love about Ceefineass sound is she very raw, sexy, and confident with her raps. She also has excellent bars in her songs, one of my favorite lines from her is “Youngest in my city, i’m the f*cking goat.” This line clearly explains the hype and how she controls the buzz in New Orleans. Some of my favorite songs from CeeFineAss right now are titled “Payback,” “Mad,” “Creepin,” “Messy,” and “Boss Bit*h.” Overall, CeefineAss, to me, is someone to look forward to see blowing up in the year 2021.

Number two

Treety

Treety is another female rapper coming out of New Orleans, Louisiana. Treety has been on the New Orleans hip hop scene for about three-plus years. I first heard Treety at a college party, the DJ was mixing a bunch of classic bounce songs and the song “D**k drop off” caught my attention. After the party was over I went searching on youtube and apple music for more of treety’s music. After about two hours of searching and listening to Treetys music, I quickly fell in love with her sound. Treety has a rawness about her that is very retable and gangsta, but at the same time, she still keeps it’s sexy. I also like how her style is traditional New Orleans, by rapping over bounce beats but still giving us hard bars and heavy punchlines. Some of my favorite songs by Treety are titled “Hot Girl winter” ft Cashhhh, “Right One”, “My name Treety” and “Down Low”. Treety also has dropped some pretty good projects over the past few years. The project she dropped in 2017 titled “Before the Fame”, also she dropped another concrete project in 2018 titled “My name Treety” and in 2019 and 2020 she gave us two fire projects titled “ the treat vol. 1 and two”. Overall Treety has been giving us great party music to turn up too. Treety is also one female rapper you should look forward to seeing hit mainstream in 2021.

Number three

GameOvaReedy

GameOvaReedy is another artist from New Orleans, she hit the scene about seven years ago. I first heard GameOvaReedy at another college party, once again the Dj was playing another bounce mix and I heard the song “post to be” but it had a New Orleans bounce beat and a totally different voice to it. The first thing I needed to know was whos voice is rapping over this fire ass remix. After the party and doing some talking to the Dj I found out that reedy was the one rapping over the beat. I quickley went home and did some research and some listening. I quickly became obsessed with GameOvaReedys sound and voice, why because I havent heard bounce music done this well since the 90’s. GameOvaReedy Sound is completely traditional and dripping with the roots of what New Orleans bounce is and captures the New Orleans dance and party culture. As og on the list she has one the most in depth catlogs of music even though she doesn’t have an album out. Some of my favorite songs by her are titled “ Missing you”, “For the d**k” and “The Rules” GameOvaReedy has most of her music on the platform called youtube. Hopefully in 2021 she drops a project with some of her old and new songs to give her fans a project. Overall GameOvaReedy is getting pretty close to legendary status when it comes to the bounce music and i look foward to hearing more from her in 2021.

RnB ain’t Dead Part 2

Female hip hop now

RnB Ain’t Dead edition

I’m back yall with another edition of female hip hop now. First and foremost Black lives matter. Protest still going strong and demanding justice for the ones slain by police brutally. Still to this day Black lives matter and black issues are important and we still demand justice for our brothers and sisters. Defund the police and put money back into public schools and the communities. Even though the turmoil is still going on I’m still here to give you’ll new music and new artists to add to your playlist to help distress and reset during these times where we demand justice and respect. Now let’s switch gears to the RnB game. In the past three years, fans and music critics have said that RnB music is basically dead. Well, I am here to say that is false, RnB is very much alive it just has been pushed to the underground. So the focus in the edition of female hip hop now is to bring light to some RnB artists that have been giving us quality music but have been unnoticed on the mainstream stage. Artists like Tink, Tyus, and Ann Marie. These artists have been consistent and have given us a good selection of music over the past 5 years, but for some reason, these artists have not gotten the mainstream recognition they deserve. Well in this article I will give you a break down of these artists and their bodies of work.

Number one

Tink

Tink also know as Tink G is from Chicago, Illinois, and one of the most talented and most versatile artists to hit the music scene. Tink caught my attention in 2011 with a song titled “She Loves Him” off one of her early mixtapes. After being impressed with hearing that song, I decided to do more research and look into her music and was amazed at what I heard and seen. Tink dropped a mixtape titled “Blunts and Ballads” which has hits titled “Background Music 2 and “When I’m lit” both these songs were underground favorites among her fans. Also, Tink is known for a series of mixtapes titled “Winter Diaries”. This series is made of four mixtapes that showcase tinks story of her heartbreak and bad relationships. Along with some love songs and every day around the way girl vibes. Some spotlight songs off the winter dairies tapes are “Bonnie and Clyde”, “I Like” “Somebody else”, “Treat me like somebody” “Limelight” and more. Tink has continued to give us quality music in 2020 with her latest mixtape titled “Hopeless romantic”, this project is one the best RnB project to drop this year. This project shows Tink’s growth as an artist from around way teenage girl to grown and confident woman. Hit singles off the project are “F*ck around”, “Hopeless romantic” and “Cut it out” and more. The album is an emotional rollercoaster of feelings that perfectly describe a relationship from start to finish. Tink to me is one the most talented and consisted of RnB artist to come out in this decade and she deserves more recognition when it comes to music, hopefully, in 2020 and 2021 she gets that recognition.

Number 2

Ann Marie

Ann Marie is another underrated RnB artist from Chicago, Illinois who is very underrated. Even though Ann Marie has many as over a million combined views on youtube from video streams she still does not get the recognition she deserves when it comes to the RnB game. I first saw and heard Ann Marie in a song and video titled “Tell me lies” this song is about a man that is consistently telling lies and cheating in the relationship. What caught my attention was Ann Marie’s soft and smooth voice mixed with a “Bad girl” look. It was something about Ann Marie that was relatable and sexy, overall her look was straight pressure and her music matched the energy. Over the past few years, Ann Marie has dropped more music to match her look and supply her fans with consistently. Mixtapes titled “Tripolar”, “Tripolar 2”, “Unfuckwithable” and a self-titled mixtape. Over the past few years, Ann Marie has ridden the underground buzz with music but in the spring of 2019, she dropped a single titled “Secret”. This launch Ann Marie career into the mainstream eyes. Also, the single “Secret” got plenty of radio which gave Ann Marie the push she needs to attract new fans. In the year 2019, she dropped her sequel to tripolar and caught the RnB game’s attention. Many hit singles Ann Marie has dropped over few years are songs like “One more time” “Loyalty” “Ride for me” “Hennessy” “throw it back” “Karma” “ I’m Leaving”  and many more. Ann Marie is one Rnb artist you need to add to your Rnb playlist.

Number 3

Tyus

Tyus aka Mr. City of the Rose is from Portland Oregon. I first heard Tyus Music from a friend of mine my freshman year of college. The song was titled “city of the Rose”. Tyus’s voice in that song was very melodic and calming, Soft but strong enough to call your attention. Over time I started to listen to Tyus more and realized he had a great collection of music and mixtapes. One the first mixtapes Tyus dropped was Titled “Never Forget” This project was dropped in 2016 and gave Tyus fans right what they asked for, an album packed with a smooth RnB feel of the 90s but with the modern Rawness of the 2010s. Shortly after Tyus dropped another project in 2017 titled “Phases” this project still kept the RNB vibe from the 90s that Tyus is known for it also gives us more of a grown and sexy vibe. Tyus continued to stay consistent in 2019 with another ep titled “ Sessions 2k19” this ep was by far his best body of work, the ep rides smooth from front to back with songs like “Creepin” and “How Far”. Even without dropping ep’s Tyus still gave us great singles like “4 U” “Cash Flow” and “I Know”. Tyus is super underrated and needs to be in the mainstream light hopefully in 2020 he will get his deserved recognition.

Texas most slept on male rappers

Female hip hop now

“Texas most slept on male rappers”

I’m back yall with another edition of female hip hop now. First and foremost Black lives matter. Protest still going strong and demanding justice for the ones slain by police brutally. Still to this day Black lives matter and black issues are important and we still demand justice for our brothers and sisters. Defund the police and put money back into public schools and the communities. Even though the turmoil is still going on I’m still here to give you’ll new music and new artists to add to your playlist to help distress and reset during these times where we demand justice and respect. This edition is going to focus on slept on rappers in Texas. Yes I know Texas has a lot of talent from Dallas to Houston and many other cities in between, but they’re still some talented artists that get pushed under the rugs for some reason. That’s why I am here to give a list of three rappers/artists who I think are criminally underrated and need to be recognized on a better level when it comes to the hip hop industry across the United States.

Number one

Propain

Propain is based in Houston, Texas, and one of the best lyricists in the state of Texas. I first saw and heard Propain’s music in 2013 in song and video titled “2 rounds” the song sounded and felt like summertime and had a melodic beat that was very prevalent in 2013 hip hop during that time. The song had a feature from the rapper Rich Homie Quan which gave the song across the country push it needed. After hearing that song I decide to do more research on Propain and was very happy with what I found and heard. Propain has a flow that sounds like he is having a conversation with the beat. Propain also has great storytelling abilities that give the listener picture of his life and how he grew up and maintains in Houston. Propain has a collected of mixtapes and albums that are packed with hits for ladies and male fans. One of my favorite propain projects is titled “Ridin Slab”. This project captures propain’s storytelling abilities and beautiful flow and catchy punchlines. Some of his hits songs off of the project “Ridin Slab” are “Reverse” “Fathers day” “Got a problem” and “You on You”. These songs were played heavily on the radio in Texas in summer 2013. In the year 2015 Propain dropped another project titled “Against all odds” this project had another hit single titled “Rodeo” ft Kevin Gates. This song got heavy radio play in the south and drew in the ladies and helped increase Propain’s fan base. Along with “Rodeo” being a southern hit the project “Against all odds” has other standout songs like “245” “complicate” “where it’s at” and “Monority”. These songs highlighted Propain talent and rhyming skills. In the 2018 Propain dropped a project titled “7-day theory”  and in 2019 Propain dropped a project titled “ In case we never speak again”. This project is another one of my favorites he has dropped recently with hits on the album titled “Jody and Yvette” ft KenTheMan and “My life” ft J dawg. Overall with Propain’s quality of albums and consistently making music in the Texas hip hop industry is a reason why he deserves way more recognition within and outside the state of Texas.

Number two

Lil Ronny

Lil Ronny is from the Dallas, Fort Worth area and is one of the best punchline rappers in Texas. I first heard of Lil Ronny at a teenage party in Waco in 2012. When the song titled “Booty” dropped in the party the whole crowd went crazy. During that moment I knew that I needed to find out who Lil Ronny was and what more of his music sounded like. When lookup Lil Ronny the next day I was pleased with what found. Lil Ronny music is basically club and real-life music. What I like most about Lil Ronny’s music are his punchlines and storytelling schemes. For example in the song titled “cool it now” Lil Ronny is basically telling a story about cheating on his girl with his side chick. As crazy as the story sounds the songs and video is a hit. Earlier songs from Lil Ronny Titled “Circle”, “Booty” “pink panther” and more. These are his early club songs but over time Lil Ronny progressed and dropped more heat. In the years between 2016-2019, Lil Ronny has dropped four projects titled “From the ground up” “Sacrifices” “The Mothaf*n Legacy” and “The Under Goat”. Each project has songs that stand out like “Tales from industry” “Cool it Now” “Don’t Play with Me” “New Year resolution”. All of these songs highlight Lil Ronny’s talent and how he is one of the most slept-on rappers in Texas and deserves the statewide and countrywide recognition in the hip hop industry.

Number three

TOG minor

The last artist on the list is T.O.G minor who used to go by the name “J.Minor” from Waco, Texas. I’ve basically grown up listening to Tog minor. The first song I heard from him was titled “Beautiful Mistakes” of the project “handling business”. From hearing that song it was two things I liked about T.o.g minor style. One was the raspy voice, the second thing was his unique flow. Over time I continued to listen to T.o.g minor music and started to see the progression in his music. In the year 2018 T.o.g minor dropped a project titled “Blessings from the bottom” this project jams from front to back literally. Songs I enjoyed the most on this project is titled “Need this money” “Greenlight” and Nothing on mine”. Also in the year, 2018 T.o.g minor dropped some singles and videos on youtube. Songs like “Be about it” “Take that” and “Get it how you live”. The following year in 2019 Tog minor still had his foot on the gas and dropped another project titled “Can’t Stop The Hustle”, this project had hit songs titled “It ain’t easy” and “Bad News”. During the same year a few months later Tog minor dropped another project titled “Born 2 win”. In the past two years, T.o.g minor has kept his foot on the gas even though he has been the Waco and Texas hip hop game for almost 7 plus years. Overall Tog minor needs more statewide and countrywide recognition when it comes to southern hip hop music.

Waco Top 5 Upcoming Artist

Female hip hop now

“Top 5 upcoming rappers from Waco”

I’m back yall with another edition of female hip hop now. It has been an eventful week with Black lives matter protest still going strong and demanding justice for the ones slain by police brutally. Still to this day Black lives matter and black issues are important and we still demand justice for our brothers and sisters. Even though the turmoil is going on I’m still here to give new music and new artist to add to your playlist to help distress and reset during these times were we demand justice and respect. Now, let’s focus on some upcoming talent from Waco, Texas. Waco is a city located right between Dallas and Houston Texas that gets overlooked when it comes to music and just raw talent. Over the past three years, Waco has started bubbling with new talent that has what it takes to put the city on the map. So I’ve come up with a list of five artists that are on the come up in Waco Texas. This list is based on the artist youtube views, the buzz in the city, and the quality of projects and videos. (Once again this is a list of upcoming rappers in the city of Waco that have been working in the past three years.)

Number 1.

Hot boy wes

Hot boy Wes is from Waco, Texas, and is one of the hottest rappers to come out of Waco. Hot boy Wes is known in Waco to drop fire freestyles on Facebook in the years of 2014- present. With each freestyle Hot boy wes was telling a story of his struggle and testimony of his life and how he grew up in north Waco. These freestyles started to give him a buzz in the city of Waco and surrounding areas in the 254. In the year 2019 Hot boy Wes dropped a single titled “Big tymers” ft Trap boy Freddy which is a well establish rapper in Dallas. This single let the world know that Hot boy Wes was not just some freestyle rapper and that Hot Boy had the capability and talent to make a hit song and wake the city up. That same year Hot Boy Wes dropped his debut mixtape titled “Never Had Sh*t”. This project was a perfect mix of storytelling, grimy lyrics and gritty beats to push Hot Boy Wes sound. The project is packed with street anthems like “I Can’t”, “Wave Watching” “Slum child” and “Big tymers”. Even after Hot Boy Wes dropped his project he still stayed consistent with dropping new music. For example singles like “Ringtone” and a remix to The box by roddy ricch. Overall Hot Boy Wes has been grinding and putting the city of Waco on his back when it comes to the quality of music and raw talent and this is why he is number one on the top 5 upcoming artists in Waco list.

Number 2

TSO Jrag

TSO Jrag is another artist that is buzzing in Waco, Texas. TSO jrag caught my attention in 2019 with the song “Strategy”, after hearing that song and doing research I realize that this young man got something and mean the young man is talented. Jrag music has a good mix of storytelling and sh*t talking” which in today’s rag industry is great for making a hit. To me, Jrag music is for the hustlers and grinders in everyday life. Jrag music is a mix of Louisiana beats with trap inspirations and Texas flavor. Some of Jrag most view songs are titled “ Trapped out” “Prodigy” “Tragedy”. But these aren’t his only songs, even though he doesn’t have a complete project out yet Jrag is staying consistent with dropping new songs every two months. This consistency is what the city needs when it comes to staying relevant. At this rate, Jrag is on the way to the top and is putting the city of Waco on his back. This makes Jrag number two on the hottest upcoming rappers out of Waco, Texas.

Number 3

T.L.A. Savage

TLA savage is another artist from Waco, Texas. I came across TLA savage in the song titled “ A lot” TLA was featured on this song. What pulled my attention was TLA savages flow, punchlines, and voice. All these are good combinations for good songs. In the past three years, TLA savage has dropped four projects titled “Savage for life” “Sacrifices” “Its Me” and “I’ll never be the same”. Each project has standout songs that will catch the attention of hip hop listeners in the south. For example on the “Savage for life” project songs like “When u popping” and “Super thoed” showcase TLA savage raping abilities.  Besides projects, TLA savage has dropped a collection of videos and singles titled “Kimbo Slice” “Bonnie & Clyde” and “It’s me/Hottest Ikno”. So far TLA savage has stayed consistent with dropping music and videos every few months to keep his buzz in the city and stay relevant. This makes TLA Savage Jordan number three on the hottest upcoming rappers out of Waco, Texas, and one the artist to blow out of Waco.

Number 4

Waco Tron

Waco Tron is another rapper from Waco, Texas that has a buzz in the city. I first saw Waco Tron on youtube on rover remix titled “Straight Texas”, while listening to the song I heard somethings that caught my ear. Waco Tron had bars and flow that goes smoothly with the beat. Waco Tron also has the perfect amount of bass in his voice to blend perfectly with any southern style beat. Over the past few years, Waco Tron dropped a project on soundcloud Titled “No Favors” and has dropped singles and videos on YouTube and other streaming services. Stand out songs are “Straight Texas” “The Cook up” “Let’s Get It” and many more. Overall Waco Tron rap style to me makes him stand out and puts him as number 4 on my top 5 upcoming artists in Waco.

Number 5

Shea Glizzy

Last but not least Shea Glizzy from Waco, Texas. Shea Glizzy is the only female on the list but her bars and flow lets you know she can stand in the ring with any male rapper in the city. I first heard Shea Glizzy on Facebook video she was freestyling to Roddy Ricch the box freestyle. When I first heard her I saw three things I liked her flow which basically like her walking on the beat, her accents, and her wordplay. For her to only be rapping for about four to six months shea glizzy is undeniable talented. Even though she has only been recording for a short amount of time, Shea Glizzy has dropped a project titled “Stoopid Sh*t” which a great way to keep her buzz in the city and stay consistent. On the project, Shea Glizzy gives the Texas sound we expect in female artists now. Also, the project has some stand out songs titled “Get that money” “Sticks” and “Between you and I” and these are just songs that I feel the listeners can vibe to and these songs showcase Shea Glizzy versatility something that we usually don’t see in female artist in this hip hop industry. Overall Shea Glizzy is talent and to me has what it takes to blow out of the Waco area and her quality of videos, project, and her relevance puts her at number 5 on the list of Waco top 5 upcoming rappers.

Alabama Edition

Female hip hop now

“Alabama Edition”

I’m back yall with another edition of female hip hop now. It has been an eventful week with Black lives matter protest still going strong and demanding justice for the ones slain by police brutally. Still to this day Black lives matter and black issues are important and we still demand justice for our brothers and sisters. Even though the turmoil is going on I’m still here to give new music and new artist to add to your playlist to help distress and reset during these times were we demand justice and respect. In this edition, we are focusing on the state of Alabama. Many of yall don’t know that Alabama has a great selection of new artist that will take the south by storm. From male to female artist Alabama has the spotlight on the new south. Artists like Luh soldier, samiria, and HoneyKomb brazy have been setting ablaze in Alabama and also have been putting the spotlight on the state showing that this place deep down south has what it takes to become a powerhouse for hip hop.

Number 1

Luh Soldier

Luh soldier is from Birmingham, Alabama, and is one of the new artists who is making waves in the hip hop industry and one of the hottest artists in the state of Alabama. Luh Soldier started buzzing in Birmingham about two year ago with his single titled “1st degree” which caught the attention of many hip hop fans in the south. With Luh soldiers grimy and deep voice and his ability to make a melody without trying is what makes him stand out in a crowd of talent in his state. In the year 2018 Luh soldier dropped a debut mixtape titled “Out On Bond” that had the hit single “45 and a Glock 9” ft JayDaYoungin. This song help Luh soldier gain the fan base he needs to continue to rise to the top in Alabama. In 2019 Luh soldier continued to ride the wave of new fame created by his first project by dropping two tapes Titled “Naw FR, Vol 1” and “Soldier mentality”. Both tapes are packed with hits like “gambling” which showcases Luh soldier storytelling ability an art that is lost in the hip hop industry and “What happens”. Now halfway through the year, 2020 Luh soldier continues to apply pressure with two more tapes titled “trench baby” and “Thug Luv”. On the project “Thug love” Luh soldier shows the soft side with a collection of songs for the ladies. Songs like “rider” and “No effort” give the listeners a different side of Luh soldier and allows him to broaden his fan base to the ladies. So far Luh soldier has made his way to the spotlight in Alabama and he is on his way to mainstream at this rate in 2020.

Number 2

Samiria

Samiria from mobile, Alabama a young female artist who is making some noise in a very talented city. Samiria caught my attention and many other fans in the year 2020 with a video of her rapping to the respect instrumental that was posted on Tokyo jetz Instagram. This freestyle showcase the witty wordplay and slick metaphors that would usually only hear from a more seasoned female rapper, but 18-year-old Samiria proves to differ. Samiria style is very similar to the style of rappers in mobile, the wordplay the punch lines and metaphors are all staples of a mobile hip hop artist. With that being said Samiria is definitely an example of greatness. After seeing and hearing her freestyle. I had to check her out and see what other work she had to offer. Samiria has been in the hip hop game since 2018 and has been all gas no breaks since then. Dropping videos and music on youtube to help build her fan base. Her first youtube single is titled “No problem freestyle” which showed of Samiria witty wordplay. In the year 2019 Samiria stayed consistent with dropping music videos and freestyle to broaden her fan base. In 2020 Samiria dropped her first project titled “Bet on myself”. This project is filled with hits and feature from another rising star in Alabama that goes by no cap. Songs on that project that showed off Samiria skills are “First Class”, “Do not disturb”, “Hol’up wait”. Overall the project is an album you can play all the way through with no skips. Samiria is definitely on the rise when it comes to the female hip hop industry and she is also putting Mobile, Alabama on the map.

Number 3

Honeycomb brazy

Honeykomb brazy from Moblie, Alabama, and honestly one the best freestyle and storytelling rappers out of Alabama. I first saw honeykomb brazy on youtube with his song titled “Freestyle”. Which is a 7-minute freestyle of honeykomb brazy giving us straight bars. In the video, honeykomb is basically describing his life and how he grew up in Moblie, Alabama. After hearing that song and seeing the video I noticed a few things about honeyKomb as an artist. One of his flow and Cadance is super unique and screams Alabama hip hop artist. Second, he has a storytelling flow that engages you into the song and paints a story for you with words, and third Honeykomb brazy is one of the rawest artists I’ve seen since Lil snupe (RIP). In the year 2018 honeykomb brazy got locked up again and was unable to drop or make new music. In the year 2019 Honeycomb brazy was released from prison and dropped straight heat. Songs titled “Under pressure” “New body” “Mobile Alabama Violence” and “Lil Baby”. For this to be Honeykomb brazy first mixtape this project was pretty good. The album was a solid 8/10 and gave me the vibes I needed from a gangsta rap artist. Honeycomb brazy also showed his romantic side on the song “Lil Baby”. In this song honeycomb is basically talking to women who he truly wants to be with and protect. This song draws in the female audience he needs to grow his fan base. Overall Honeykomb brazy a star in the making  and one of the rising stars coming from Alabama. In 2019 Honeykombbrazy was once again locked back up in 2019 early 2020, but his tape and music is still making buzz in the south and has the attention of southern hip hop fans. #FreeHoneyKombBrazy.

With summer 2020 around the corner, we have still high expectations for “Hot Girl summer” and those ‘OUTSIDE” vibes and a few female artists from Georgia that are upcoming and need to be on your playlist.

Number 1 on the list is

Baby Fendi

Baby Fendi is from Albany, Georiga and one of the new faces of the female hip hop scene in Georiga. Baby Fendi appeared on the scene in 2018 with her hit single “Ride” that showed off here melodic voice and catchy but heartfelt lyrics and punch lines draw you into her music. Also, baby Fendi does something that other female rappers don’t do. She put her story and pain in her music and which you can feel in every lyric. Baby Fendi has dropped two mixtapes the past two years titled “Due Date” and “Fendi Gang Forever” Both mixtapes are packed with hits like “Pop my Sh**t” “Glock 19” “Ride” “Changed on me” “100” and more. Baby Fendi also has some hits on youtube that are not on apple music. Songs like “Close friends” and “Drip like this” which are a remix of other artist songs. So far baby fendi is making it known that she is here to stay in the female hip hop scene and is also making a way for the 229. Baby Fendi is one of the hottest female artists to come out of the state of Georgia and is one of my top 10 upcoming female artists for 2020.

Number 2 on my list is

Light skin Keisha

Light skin Keshia aka the queen of Atlanta. Light skin Keisha’s claim to the female hip hop scene was kind of usual, she and some friends made a goofy video of girls doing girl things before they go out. The video went viral in 2017 and many people on twitter were asking where is the girl who was rapping at now. Later that summer light skin Keshia had a rant on Instagram talking about the “weather” Little did she know that rant would change her life. Light skin Keisha turned the rant into song and the song changed the tone for summer of 2017 that “Act up weather” Light skin Keisha from there continued to boss hog her way through the female hip hop lane. In the year 2018 light skin Keisha gave us more hits and summertime anthems. Over the past three years, light skin Keisha dropped many bodies of work including “Act up SzN” “That’s just the bottom” and “Talk that talk”. Each tape has its selection of hits like “Believe that” “Ride Good” “SDM” “On Read” and more. So far light skin Keisha has proven to us that she is the queen of Atlanta and that she is here to stay. Pay attention to light skin Keisha she putting on for the female hip hop scene in Atlanta.

Female Artists “Texas Edition”

Female rappers “ Texas Edition”

“Bitch I’m from Texas I’m naturally sexy”

As you know Texas is known to have the finest women in the south. Yes the women are fine as hell but the bars and accent are as equal to their looks. This post is catered to the amazing upcoming female rappers and artists coming from the lone star state. These female artists have the perfect mix of sexy, playa, gangsta and bossy. Artists like KenTheMan, Erica Banks, Lebra Jolie, and Chakeeta B. These ladies are running the female underground scene in Texas and the surrounding south. Texas is also once again showing how it is one of the hotbeds for female talent.

  1. KenTheMan

KenTheMan coming from Houston Texas is the first one to look out for in 2020. KenTheMan hit the scene in 2017 dropping fire freestyles on her youtube channel and her instagram. In 2018 she went viral with her hit “deserve”. The song ran across everybodies twitter timeline. Showcasing KenTheMan’s storytelling abilities, killer flow and bars. The song “deserve” put her on the female rapper radiator. But Ken did not stop with that song she kept putting out consistent hits in 2019 like “we be on it” , “aint special” “Decisions” and the smash hit “He Be Like” that launched kentheman career into the spotlight. “He Be Like” became a hit in the summer of 2019 that was said to have women back on their BS. Once again KenTheMan is definitely one of the major keys in the female rap game scene in Texas.

  1. Lebra Jolie

Number two on the list is the lovely Lebra Jolie formerly known as lebra guddah. Lebra also hails from Houston Texas. Lebra hit the scene in 2011 dropping freestyes on youtube like “My lil Dip”, “bout that life” , and “No Nigga Needed” . These songs became classic to many females in Texas. Lebra slowly was making a name for herself in the Texas female rap scene. Lebra also dropped a mixtape in 2018 Titled “Brianna” . This project had a great range of songs that went with all moods from ratchet girls night out to in your feeling music. Lebra also had a couple viral freestyles in the summer of 2019, like the Money freestyle that showed cased not just her hard bars and flow but punchlines that you can literally feel in chest. Lebra also has a great catalog of singles that get huge play in bars and clubs in houston. “From the 5th” “Save me” “Please” “Down South Remix” “offended” and “Day 1”. Lebra Jolie is another female rapper from Texas that is going to make waves and hit the scene hard in 2020. Let them know I told you first.

3.Erica Banks

Number 3 from the list is Erica Banks from Dallas,Tx. The female threat of the triple D, Erica Banks came on the scene in 2018 with her taste freestyle. Erica Banks bars and punchlines are like breathe of fresh air to the Texas music scene. The biggest ear catcher for Erica Banks style is her voice that drips with a perfect mix of sexy and playa. Something only a Texas female can pull off. Erica Banks came out the gate swinging dropping jaw dropping freestyles on youtube like “No Hook 1,2,3” “I’m Up” “”Talk my sh*t” “Act up” and more. Proving to the game that she is the hottest in her city and one the hottest in Texas. Erica also travels from Texas and Atlanta to expand her fan base, which so far is working very well. Even though Erica Banks has only been in the game for about a year and a half she has dropped 3 projects. Tilted “Art of Hustle” “Pressure” “Cocky on Purpose” all three projects shows Erica Banks progression as a female artist over time. Erica Banks is definitely one female artist that is hitting the scene pretty hard in 2020. Also Erica Banks is on the pathway to put the female rap scene in Dallas on the mainstream stage.

4. Chakeeta B

Last but not least we have Chakeeta B from Austin,Texas putting on for the Centex. ChaKeeta hit the scene in 2015 with her single “salute me bruh” that caught the attention of many hip hop fans in centex and also around the state of texas. ChaKeeta B is the hidden jewel of this Texas female hip hop scene. Like other female rappers in the state Chakeeta style and voice catches the ear of many listeners, but here flow and punchlines versatility is what makes her stand out to many others of her kind. ChaKeeta has giving us consistent hits like “Forever Love” “Trill talk” “2 can play that game” and more. Chakeeta also has dropped some dopr projects titled “ 2 incomparable ” and “Lovers Lane”. Chakeeta is not only an artist but also an influencer. She is the founder of a great event called Kinky Coily Curly Fest which is an outlet for women of color in central Texas to showcase the beauty of being who they truly are. Also the festival allows small business vendors to sell their products and artists from all backgrounds could come together to showcase their talents. Chakeeta B has well deserved spot on the list because she not just making waves but setting a pathway for other female rappers not just in Texas but in the overlooked and underappreciated central Texas.

K.Cross

K.Cross

An Alternative/hip hop/Rnb/Rock. Relles is able to cross multiple genres and still make music that touches the soul. His sound transcends different generations and attracts different music lovers. His music is mixed with pain and hopefulness of a better day.  K.Cross gives us a some insight on his journey through music and life.

What/who inspires you to make music ?

What/ who inspires me to rap/sing

I grew up a student of hip hop thanks to my pops when I was younger he introduced me to Wayne tech n9ne yellow wolf Eminem and I found my own style in taste through j Cole Mac miller and nas alot and related alot to there tracks

When did you start rapping/singing?

When did I start rapping / singing

I started rapping at 16 started writing music at 14 and started recording at 20 so it’s all down to perspective I’d say I just started taking it seriously the past year at 21 though.

What is a life change experience that affects you?

A life changing experience that affected me was me losing everything in 2024, my place to live, my car, my ex just 2024 was horrible but I turned things around and I’m better then ever. It made me strong and I wouldn’t have been the person I am today without it.

What artist male/female would you want to collaborate with ?

The artist is love to work with

Are of course my goat j Cole

Big x the plug

That Mexican OT Paul wall

AND WESLEY DOX

In the studio

Also a Wayne feature would go crazy

Do you think The area you are in help mold you into the rapper you are today?

I see myself a year from now constantly doing shows making money off my music and being well known in my area for it I want multiple genres of me out there that makes me desirable and unique and going on tour

What are some of your musical influences ?

My musical influences are J Cole, Mac miller Kendrick and Dominick fike.

Who are some your favorite artists today ?

Do you think it’s hard to break into multiple genres at once?

As a marketing stand point yes but as far as writing and me being the person I am no thanks to the area I’ve grown up in and the music I’ve listened to I’ve been able to take from each genre and make it my own

What is the best song you recorded so far ?

The best song I’ve recorded so far is one sheep as far as getting close with god and a vibe I think the message will stand clear for men and Christian’s as far as lusting over women and wanting to better themselves over it

What is some advice you would give to a person who has experienced life similarity to you?

Instead of being a bad person I’ve always see my flaws and wanna do better I’m no where near perfect and I think I explain that pretty well in songs like one sheep and black clover

I think the songs to look out for in my album A Kings Life Volume 1.

Is Black Clover for story telling

Popeye for the vibe

Needed for the heartbreak

And one sheep story telling vibe and getting closer to god

Kings Life volume 1. Comes out June 30th and I’m really excited for it so The world can finally see K.Cross and just cross in general as a artist and person

Earthquake by Y3k!

The link up.

2 female artist from Detroit just gave us a funky and nostalgic feel with their new single Earthquake. K. Lajuan and Y3nom just gave us of Y3k! exactly that on their new single “Earthquake.” These two girls who are from the Westside of Detroit came together because of their mutual respect and friendship. Watching each other grind as solo artists they decided to join forces. Both girls bonded by the familiarity of the loss of a father from their childhoods. Having both the same zodiac signs Libra and versatile rap styles they feel they can be unstoppable.

Inspiration.

The ladies are inspired by all types of forms of music from hip-hop, pop, R&B and rock music all in between. The ladies’s’ newest single earthquake reminds me of a mix between Miami and Atlanta bases, which is interesting because they are both from Detroit. So I wonder if the house Music sound of Detroit mixing in with the Atlanta and Miami base gave them inspiration for their new single earthquake.

Overall, the ladies made a great song. Earthquake is a great song of the summer and I could hear it at clubs across the country, especially in Miami Atlanta, and all the southern and midwestern regions where that of club music, bounce Music and base music is big.

If you haven’t checked it out yet earthquake is out now on all streaming platforms y’all make sure y’all go check it out. Download it. Send it to you. DJ requesting on your radio stations. Just tap in with those girls.

Waco Gen Z Hip Hop Movement

For the past five years Waco Texas has been on fire with breakout artists Wacotron, Hotboy wes and Moneymade nero and 2rawqua. These four artists have shown the world that the small college town located between Dallas and Houston has big city talent when it comes to music. Over the past few years I, the owner of female hiphop, have been watching the Waco music scene closely and seeing the ups and downs of the industry on these new artists. Overall the best things about the new discoveries of the talent in Waco is that the industry has allowed us through the door. Now with movement ushers in New talented artists. Introducing some new artists you need to pay attention too. First up is Big Yayo

I found big Yayo a year ago on Iconic Visuals Youtube page, a videographer based in Waco,Texas. What caught my eye about Big Yayo is his flow and punch lines. He reminds me of  mystical a successful rapper once signed to no limit in 90s and early 2000s with his raspy voice and rough adlibs. Some songs that showcase his talents are Slatt, Da B.O.A.T, and Family guy. If Big Yayo keeps it up I do see him as another breakout artists out of Waco.

Another artist I’ve been watching close in Waco is Lil4. Lil4 will hope on any beat and flow over it. He caught my attention with his hit single “Taxing” featuring Hotboy Wes and MTB Dee. This song caught my attention because lil 4 was going bar for bar with Hotboy Wes with his verse. Also Lil4 can tell a story in his raps not quite like story telling more like giving his Pov on what he sees day to day. Lil4 was rapping like he had something to prove, and he did just that. I feel like Lil4 will be another breakout artist for Waco, Texas. Check out his songs below.

Another artist I’ve been watching is LihhDarin1. What caught my eye is he likes to rap over these melodic beats. Which is different for his generation of hip hop artist because now in days its all about the heavy trap and drill type beats, but LihhDarin1 songs have a smooth 808 sound on most his songs that makes it easier for a listener to nod their heads and lay back and cruise too. One my favorite songs by him is “Having” the sample he used reminds me a Curtis Mayfield how he tells stories about his life and what goes on in Waco from his perspective. LihhDarin1 is definitely another artist that will break out in Waco.

Overall Waco has a bright future when it comes to hip hop. With the rawness of the city and authentic vibes and storytelling of the artists, I’m excited what else Waco has to offer with the new generation of artists. Who do you think will be a breakout artists for Waco Gen Z movement.  Shout out iconic visuals a videographer in Central Texas who has taken up the lead in the music industry for central Texas providing high quality music videos and images. From Photos to sound Iconic Visuals is your guy make sure y’all book with him.

“Hardest in the Nawf: Male Edition”

Introduction

What it do y’all. I’m back at it again with another edition of female hip hop now. Thank you all for the support. This has been a blog that has been running for about two years. This blog started as a college history project and is slowly turning into a positive media platform for upcoming artists who all share and love this hip hop culture. Happy holidays to all the hip hop heads and I hope you all have a happy New Year. Also, R.I.P to one of Texas hardest and most talented rappers ever Mo3. May his music live on, and his legacy reign forever. Now let’s get into the music. Lately, the state of Texas has been a hotspot for new talent entering the hip hop industry. Cities like Dallas and Houston have been the go-to places to find something fresh and new. While this is great for the lone star state, many small towns have been widely overlooked. A city that has a crazy amount of talent but gets criminally slept on is Waco, Texas. North Waco is a significant part of the Waco hip hop scene right now, with O.g. artists and new talent coming out of that side of the city every day. North Waco might be one of the hardest and most talented sides of the town. Also, free Hot boy Wes one of the most talented artists to come out of North Waco. Now my question is, who is the hardest in the Nawf?

Tog Minor

The first on the list is the North Waco O.G himself T.O.G minor who used to go by the name “J. Minor” from Waco, Texas. I’ve grown up listening to Tog minor. The first song I heard from him was titled “Beautiful Mistakes” of the project “Handling business.” From hearing that song, it was two things I liked about T.O.G minor style. One was the raspy voice. The second thing was his unique flow. Over time I continued to listen to T.O.G minor music and started to see his music’s progression. In 2018, T.O.G minor dropped a project titled “Blessings from the bottom” this project jams from front to back literally. The songs I enjoyed the most on this project is titled “Need this money,” “Greenlight,” and “Nothing on mine.” Also, in the year, 2018 T.O.G. Minor dropped some singles and videos on youtube. Songs like “Be about it,” “Take that,” and “Get it how you live.” The following year in 2019, Tog minor still had his foot on the gas and dropped another project titled “Can’t Stop The Hustle,” this project had hit songs titled “It ain’t easy” and “Bad News.” During the same year, a few months later, Tog minor dropped another project titled “Born to win.” In the past two years, T.O.G minor has kept his foot on the gas even though he has been in the Waco and Texas hip hop game for almost seven-plus years. T.O.G child is also an O.G. That supports younger upcoming artists in Waco. Seeing him collaborate with these artists shows the world that he not only pushes the movement, but he also spreads the love, respect, and game to these younger artists. This is why T.O.G minor is one of the hardest in the Nawf.

Nawfside Nino

Nawfside Nino is another artist from North Waco who has been putting on for a while. Nawf Nino is apart of a group called NawfLxrds, who popped up on the scene about four years ago. Everyone in the group has talent, but Nawfside Nino is among a different breed. Nawfside Nino also has a very consistent track record when it comes to features. Being feature on countless songs in the Waco and Centex area. Some of his most recent features are the “Pick Six” Waco Remix, “red bottoms,” and more. In the past years, Nawfside Nino has put out an impressive amount of singles and videos himself songs titled “Black feet,” “Fck em all,” and “JikkGod Intro.” One thing that keeps my attention with Nawfside Nino is his energy and creativity is on another level. I also like how the NawfLxrds give off a feeling of a late 90’s rap group in the music visuals they have dropped over the past 3 years. This group has the potential to be something big and Nawfside Nino is for sure leading the pack. This makes Nawfside Nino one of the hardest out the Nawf.

Also, y’all go stream “JikkGod” now out on all music platforms.

Texas Joe

Texas Joe is another artist from North Waco, Texas. Texas hit the scene about four years ago with a single and video to the Tay k race remix. While listening to the song, I heard two things that instantly made me a fan. One Texas Joe has a deep heavy voice that you don’t often hear in today’s hip hop game, and second, his wordplay was quick and witty but smooth. These qualities to me were a breath of fresh air in Texas hip hop, and his vibe was authentic and playa. Texas Joe slowed down on the music for about two years, but he made a comeback in late 2018 early 2019. With a video and song titled “Baby Freestyle,” the song was the perfect way to reenter the Texas Rap scene. In the past six months, Texas Joe has been dropping heat with videos and singles back to back. Some of his most recent releases are “Red Bottoms” and “Karl Malone” ft. Nawfside Nino. Both of these songs showcase Texas Joe Talent but also his steady dedication to the music. One of my favorite songs by Texas Joe is “Say less” because of this standout line right here “Mexican, so I put a fo’ in a Modelo.” This line was so hard for me because he found a way to mix Texas hip hop culture with Mexican American Culture, which sounds fantastic together if done right. So far, Texas Joe is putting on for North Waco and is one of the hardest in the Nawf.

D.Curry

D.Curry is another artist from North Waco who has been on the Waco hip hop scene for years. D.Curry posted his first single titled “No Sleeping” to his youtube channel and has been staying consistent ever since. D.Curry is one of the versatile artists coming out of Waco. With him being able to sing and rap gives him the advantage to potentially have a large fan base. One thing that stands out the most about D.Curry is his deep surly singing voice, which is very common among Texas hip hop but is unique to other southern hip hop regions. Over the past few years, D.curry has put out two mixtapes, one titled “Addicted” and another mixtape titled “1eight baby,” paying homage to the Waco legend PJ 1eight (R.I.P). Some of the D.curry stand-out tracks are “Down for me,” “Heart of A G,” “Good Day,” and “You don’t know about me.” Hopefully, in the future, D.curry makes an RnB album because his voice’s smoothness will blend well with the vibe of RnB. Overall, D.Curry has put in the work and is one of the hardest in the Nawf.
